It was the first single from the album of the same name and was released in late 1998. Although it was a failure in the U.S. where it remained at the bottom of the Billboard Hot 100, the song was a great hit in many European countries where it was a top three hit. This single was a hit on U.S. radio and was very popular in the UK and reached #5 in the UK Singles Charts in December 1998.
The song was also featured on Now That's What I Call Music! 5 (Asia). "Big Big World" was also used in the Hong Kong television series, Detective Investigation Files IV.
