Madonna - You'll See

Song Info:

"You'll See" is a song by pop singer Madonna, from the ballads compilation Something to Remember. It was released on October 28, 1995 by Warner Bros. Records as the first single from the album.

The song became a big international hit, reaching #1 in Japan and Spain, #2 in Finland, Canada and South Africa, and #5 in Italy. It was certified Gold in the US and Japan. A Spanish version, called "Verás", appeared on the maxi-singles and on the Spanish and Latin American editions of Something to Remember; the lyrics from this version were written by Argentine singer-songwriter Paz Martínez. Junior Vasquez produced an uncommissioned and unofficial remix of the track.

In the United States, "You'll See" debuted at #8, and peaked at #6. With the single, Madonna became one of the only three artists in the Hot 100 history to have a hit peak at each position from #1 to #10; the others are Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye.[1] In the UK, the song was released in October 1995 and peaked at #5 in the UK Singles Chart. It is her 19th best selling single in the UK to date, selling over 302,000 copies. "You'll See" was also one of the few performances Madonna made for the music television program Top of the Pops in the United Kingdom.

In 2001, Madonna substituted "You'll See" for "Gone" at select US shows of her Drowned World Tour.

Madonna - This Used To Be My Playground

Song Info:

"This Used to Be My Playground" is a song performed by Madonna. It is the theme for the film A League of Their Own, which starred Madonna as well as Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Rosie O'Donnell.

The song was written and produced by Madonna and Shep Pettibone, and recorded as one of the last songs during the sessions for her 1992 studio album Erotica. Released in the summer, the single was a worldwide hit, spending one week at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in August 1992, and became Madonna's tenth chart topper, breaking her tie with Whitney Houston to become the female artist with the most number one singles at that time. The song entered the charts in the UK top five, peaking at number three for two weeks and was another top five hit for Madonna in numerous other markets.

Though featured in the film, it was not available on the soundtrack album. It was originally available on the Olympics-inspired Barcelona Gold compilation album released that summer, but in a shorter edit than any of the versions on the commercial singles. It would later be featured on Madonna's 1995 ballads compilation, Something to Remember.

In spite of its commercial success, Madonna has never performed it in any of her concerts or media appearances. It also does not appear on succeeding greatest hits albums GHV2 (2001) and Celebration (2009). A reference to this song was made in 2006 by singer Robbie Williams in his song "She's Madonna".
